More About Melinda

Born in Victoria 1975, Melinda McCarthy has been an exhibiting artist for the last ten years.  

Originally studying screen-printing art and design, Melinda spent her early career working with community organisation RedPlanet.  Here she did commission work and ran print workshops for various community groups and the public. Among these were ones for Sale gallery as part of RedPlanet’s touring exhibition. “Powerful Posters”. Also during this time she was fortunate enough to

Discovering part Hungarian ancestry, she has been sent on a new path which has lead to not only learning a new language, but also a new culture, rich with folklore and tradition, sparking her interest in mythology, legend and ancient civilizations.  Currently she is residing in London where she is delving into other sides of her ancestry

 

 

participate in a workshop run by the infamous Guerrilla girls from New York in which groups created posters on various issues.

After being involved with international arts project "Construction in process V1- The Bridge", Melinda's art took a turn and she began to experiment with a wide variety of mediums from painting and photography to installation and short film, even exploring her musical side as she spent time playing and studying double bass with traditional Hungarian & Romanian folk band Vardos.

More recently a search into her past has lead to more than long lost family.
