Originating from Aix in Provence, France, Blandine Martin immigrated to London in
1988. She studied and worked as an interior designer and architect but finally opted
in 2004 to devote herself exclusively to painting, her true vocation.
Influenced by architecture, a sense of drama and history, Blandine carved with an
instinctive flair her canvases. The display is organic and instinctive. Finding the
right balance between all the earthy textures and substances is a challenge she loves.
Blandine had her first successful, solo exhibition at Euroart studios in 2004 in
London, the public declared the work “elegant and mysterious”; some other says “energetic
and complete in itself” since then she has had many exhibitions in London and the
UK but also now in New York with Reference Gallery and now permanently showing In
France at “la p’tit galerie” St Yrieix, Limousin.
I started sketching for myself in 1996, but these books remained closed until I exhibited
a few prints at The Hype Gallery in Brick Lane. The response was great, so I decided
that I should show more and do more, in fact over 15 paintings that year.
I can not explain the satisfaction that I get when I am working. Sometimes it's intense,
very intense but also fun, lots of fun! It just makes me smile a lot...can't explain
it... I don't suffer for my art!
